Happy Last Full Week of School! This will be my last blog post for the 2020-2021 school year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for sharing your child with me. Despite all the COVID-19 craziness, we had a wonderful school year and the children learned so much. Thank you for all of your support and understanding this school year!
This past Friday, I sent home a parent letter explaining the end of the year activities we have planned. I have attached a copy of the parent letter at the bottom of this blog post for your reference.
Final report cards will be available online through Progress Book on Friday, June 11th. Please contact our school office if you need assistance accessing the electronic report card. Please be sure to take time to review your child's report card with your child.
The children have been working hard this year writing in their journal. I will be sending home their journals today (Monday). Have your child read their journal entries to you. There are several blank pages left, so they can continue to write over the summer. Some topics they can write about are vacations, visits to friends or relative's house, a trip to the zoo, outdoor activities or sports, writing about their favorite book or movie. As they continue to write, please encourage your child to stretch out the sounds they hear in words they write.
Your child will be coming home this week with a folder that contains all of their class book pages from all the class books we made this school year. Hope you and your child enjoy looking through them! :) Also, their poetry binders will be sent home later this week. Please have your child continue reading the poems throughout the summer!
Over the summer, I hope your child will continue to access the Raz-Kids website. Once August comes, your child will no longer be able to access my Raz-Kids page.
Also, the Cuyahoga County Public Library has a wonderful summer reading program for all students. I encourage all of my students to get to the library this summer and READ! I cannot stress it enough how important it is to continue to read to your child and have your child read to you NIGHTLY! As you are reading with your child, please ask questions about the story to help build comprehension skills so they begin 1st grade with their best foot forward!
Hope everyone has a fun and relaxing summer vacation!! Thanks again for a great school year!
Love,
Mrs. Moroney :)
